February 1994 - Fasting for Justice outside Hertsmere Council

A group of devotees and supporters from Manor embarked on a campaign to save a temple from closure. On February 14th, which was the coldest day of the year, around a dozen devotees and supporters began this campaign. Their goal was to prevent the closure of the temple.

As part of their campaign, these individuals engaged in a fast, taking turns to stand outside the offices of the Hertsmere Council. They prayed and hoped that the local councilors and decision-makers would have a change of heart and grant the temple a new access drive. This new access drive would likely play a crucial role in the temple’s continued operation.

As the days progressed, different groups of fasting individuals took turns to maintain a presence outside the offices. Their collective effort and determination showed the significance of the temple to the community.

The campaign gained momentum as the closure date for the temple, March 16th, approached. On this date, the temple was officially scheduled to close for public worship. In the face of this impending closure, a wide range of people, both young and old, stepped forward to support the cause. They were willing to sacrifice their time and energy to protect the temple from closure and ensure its continuation as a place of worship.
