May 1996 - DoE Granted Temple Worship Permissions!

Without prior notice, on May 10th, 1996, the British Government surprisingly declared that the Manor could continue hosting public worship and festivals, contingent upon the Temple’s construction of a new driveway. This decision followed extensive contemplation by Mr. Gummer, following an extended public inquiry conducted in 1995. He concurred with the inspector’s assessment that the Manor held significant importance as a center of worship for the Hindu community. The decision to grant access was deemed to be in the “public interest”, transcending the interests of any singular community or organization.
